Palette is not to be confused with pallet or palate, here’s why.
A palette is a thin slab of or board an artist uses to place and mix colors; the description of a range of colors used by an artist or found in a picture; the range of instrumental color in a specific piece of music; and in computer speak, the range of colors or shapes available for use.
NestMakers use palettes in their work creating art objects for you. All artists, designers, and musicians use this palette. Some like pastels. Others prefer bold solids. Still others prefer color-patterns, in all the designs in which they are found.

Pallet on the other hand is a moveable platform for storing materials; a complicated sounding piece of mechanics in a watch; a flat-bladed tool with a handle often used by potters.
Some of you use pallets in your storage endeavors. Others of you use pallets in home and garden projects. A friend has a pallet turned into an upright planter in her backyard. It is very functional and attractive. We have a few backyard pallets that hold extra patio pavers and a portion of the woodpile.
And then, there is palate. One’s palate is found in your mouth, on your tongue (for foodies wanting to talk about tastes) and roof of your mouth (for doctors wanting us to use proper anatomical language). In our discussion today, it is what senses tastes and flavors on our tongues. There are five parts of our palates: salty, sweet, sour, bitter and savory.
All of us have a palate. Most of us can still sense textures and taste flavors. Sadly, sometimes medicines can take away a person’s sense of taste.
