Nesting: Gifts That Keep Giving

Have you received a gift that keeps giving? Some people use this in jest about unpleasant things that bring on more unpleasantness.

I’m using “gifts that keep giving” in a positive, smile-bringing way. Consider the gift of a t-shirt which sports a message that always draws attention to the wearer: this ongoing attention is a reminder of the gift-giver and keeps on giving.

Consider too gifts such as crafting, painting, and music supplies. These items bring immediate joy as well as ongoing creativity for recipients and the people around them. The gifting continues.

Food gifts with more than one serving are often a welcome treat. These gifts save time, add variety to meals, and remind the recipient with every bite that YOU are thinking of THEM. Whether the food items are homemade, store-bought, or specially shipped, they keep giving.

A few years ago, I shared baskets of hand-made gift tags and a note from myself with my child’s counseling office and vision therapy team. The feedback was full of joy and delight. Voila, a product for NestingCards® was born!

More recently, I placed a gift tag on each participant chair for a presentation I was giving. During the presentation, I asked attendees to “write one gift that you bring to the workplace each week on the tag” as a way to reinforce my message and to provide an ongoing reminder of each person’s gifts.

For a wedding party, I’ve packaged six gift tags and the We Appreciate You card in unsealed cello-bags for the bride and groom to add their messages of thanks to guests for coming to the celebration. The message: “we are thanking you for being with us today and ask you to keep-the-gifting-going by using these gift tags in the future.”

What gifts have you given that keep gifting?
