Nesting: Contemplation

Card sending provides us opportunities to share moments, memories, and milestones with our receivers. While in the Redwoods of Northern California recently, I was reminded of the Contemplation set of NestingCards which captures such moments of awe. (See photo.)

Each time you think of a friend, a text is nice – a mailed card is even more nice!

Whenever you smile thinking of shared memories, grab a pen and a NestingCard to write that memory down and share it with a child, grandchild, friend, or relative. You’ll bring a smile to someone else too.

As daylight shortens, day-brightening is more necessary for many of our friends and family members. A heartfelt Hello is sometimes all it takes to brighten a day. If you are up for it, write a longer hello-message. Share what is going on in your life. Sometimes friends need a distraction from theirs.

Support a friend struggling with an illness. Send a card a week. Share what the weather or garden harvest is like where you live. Include a message from a child or grandchild who knows the person. Tuck in a photo – past or present – to bring a smile to the person struggling.

Contemplation means pausing, quieting ourselves, and thinking deeply. Breathing deeply the wonder around us and letting ourselves experience that wonder as AWE can be a part of contemplation. Prayer, meditation, yoga, and more can be a part of contemplation too.

Next time you find yourself contemplating a person, place, or object of joy – ask yourself: Whom could I reach out to? Send a card to? Share a story with?  Tuck a hug in an envelope – by way of sending a card!
